March 2013 Focus
At this meeting we will be making 'molds' to make 'embellishments' to hang on our gourds
If you want to join in on this project you will need to bring;
- Oven Bake Clay, either Sculpey or Premo brands work well. This is to make your permanent molds. Bring enough to make as many molds as you will want
- Paper Clay or Oven Bake Clay to make your actual embellishments. Bring enough to make the actual embellishment
- Cornstarch or powder to ease removal of jewelry etc from your molds, and the clay or paper clay from your molds
- Toothbrush to clean your molds and / or your jewelry or whatever item you used to make your mold from
- Toothpick or awl, to make a hole in your embellishment
- Marking Pen to identify which of these molds and/or embellishments is yours (they start to all look alike)
- Cookie sheet or flat piece of cardboard to transport your items home if they did not have time to oven bake completely
- and most important; your favorite items that you will be pressing into the clay to make your molds. You don't want anything too intricate or with a smaller top than bottom as you will need to be able to remove this item before baking the clay
- If you have a 'Toaster Oven' that you are not using for food, please bring it so that we can bake more than a few molds at a time
If you are not joining in on the focus project just bring whatever project you are currently working on and whatever you need for that project.
March 25th some of our group visited our CGS president Sylvia Nelson and trekked over to Joyce Campbell's
lovely home for a class. The class got all of us out of our usual modes and was a nurturing experience
